The road up is a story in itself, narrow, winding, lined with olive trees that seem to lean in for a closer look. By the time you arrive at Ca’s Xorc, perched on the slope between Sóller and Deià, the city already feels like something from another life. The finca was once a two hundred year old oil mill, and the conversion into a luxury retreat kept many of its original decorative details intact, so the bones of the building still carry that quiet, lived in history.
The setting is the real headline here. The Mediterranean landscape between the sea and the mountains, with terraces and gardens that catch the light differently every hour. There are 13 individually furnished rooms plus two exclusive garden cottages, each with its own, warm character.
The rooms mix the charm of a centuries old Spanish finca with modern comfort and exquisite materials, all stone walls, soft linens and views that do most of the decorating themselves. Nothing feels staged.
Food
The restaurant, Barretes, is run by chef Pep Lluís Mayol, who fell in love with the views and the kitchen here long before taking over. The cuisine was co-founded with Eckart Witzigmann, with produce drawn from the hotel’s own herb and vegetable garden. The duck cannoli and chicken croquettes come up again and again in guest reviews, and dinner on the terrace as the sun drops behind the Tramuntana is reason enough to book a table even before you have unpacked.
Spa
There is no sprawling spa complex here. The pool area is idyllically situated with plenty of quiet corners to retreat to, and the hot tub, set with views down the valley, is the kind of spot you return to more than once a day. Wellness here means slowing down rather than ticking off treatments, though a wellness menu is available for those who want it.
Environment
Ca’s Xorc lies between the sea and the mountains on Mallorca’s west coast, a forty minute drive from Palma airport and just ten minutes from the harbour at Port de Sóller. The Tramuntana mountains rise directly behind the property, criss crossed with walking trails, while Deià and Sóller, two of the island’s most beloved villages, are a short drive in either direction. The drive up is narrow and full of sharp bends, but the views down to the sea make every turn worth it.
